Cafe Acapulco has been serving this same corner of Arlington since 1984 โ more than four decades at Green Oaks Center. The current family took the reins in December 2017, taking over from an owner who'd run it for 34 years, and kept doing what's always worked: a full cantina, a covered patio, and a menu where classic Mexican dishes sit next to handmade Salvadoran specialties like pupusas, yuca con chicharrรณn, tamales, and pollo encebollado. It's become a recognized spot in the DFW metroplex โ the kind of place regulars call their second kitchen.
We're still fully hands-on in daily operations, from the dining room to the covered patio to the bar. Our newest addition is a From the Smoker program โ brisket, ribs, and smoked half chicken โ built the same way everything else here is: slow, honest, and made to order.
Mango showed up on the patio one afternoon in 2018, decided the chip basket was his, and never left. These days he's self-appointed "head of hospitality" โ greeting regulars by name (mostly correctly), heckling the smoker when brisket's running long, and starring in every "watch it made" video on our menu. If you see him on a to-go box, a napkin, or the cup sleeve, that's not decoration โ that's just Mango making sure you know exactly whose restaurant this is.
